I would like use this Report to say
"thank you" to a number of people. First, I want to
thank all of you who have paid your dues in a timely manner. We
have collected almost exactly the amount that we expected to receive.
We can now focus our attention on providing you services and programs
without worrying about whether we have the funds.
Second, our most recent social event, the happy
hour for Law School Dean Heidi Hurd, was quite a success. We could
not have provided such a nice event without the help of Pam Burnside
and Betty Jang. I also want to thank our co-sponsor, the East
Central Illinois Women's Attorney's Association. I am confident
that our December 19 Holiday Dinner Dance will be an equal success
(Please return the enclosed form).
Third, I want to thank CCBA members who came to
our Retreat last month. It was a great opportunity to talk about
issues that we never seem to have time to discuss. Throughout
the coming months, the Board may take action on some of the ideas
that were discussed. These include having semi-monthly lunch talks
on topics of interest, speaking at local schools, etc. (See attached
notes). If we follow up on any of the Retreat ideas, I would appreciate
if you would volunteer your time.
Finally, I want to welcome Roger Holland to the
Board of Governors. Roger replaces outgoing Board Member Bill
McGrath who has accepted employment out of county. I want to personally
thank Bill for the years of service that he has provided to the
CCBA and to the Board in particular. It is sometimes difficult
to recruit officers, particularly secretary and treasurer. For
a period of time while on the Board, Bill held both positions.
His energy and commitment will be missed.
As always, I am open to suggestions as to what the
CCBA can do to help our members and the community. Feel free to
contact me at any time. If you are interested in attending our
next meeting, it will be Dec. 4 at noon at Beckett and Webber.
