Litigations are nightmares for lawyers. Any litigation when done well is unbelievably hard. Yeah there are a few cases which do not require any intervention which keep going on for years and years and finally the coin flips on one side eventually. What you can hope for is that the coin flips on your side, and cross your fingers tight. There is also the alternate and harder route of going for the case with full steam and getting the decision in your favor. It easy to cross the finish line, but it takes lots of hard work to cross the finish line with a victory and a chest held high. Follow a few tested rules that litigation lawyers swear by.

First thing to do before thing start becoming too fast is to organize oneself. It takes a lot of time to sort through hundreds of documents and this time is money. This is the time when you can easily locate a document from hundreds of files since the pressure is less. A paralegal will be like gods sent at these times, if you can get one, go ahead. Any work done at the last minute will be a disaster. Saving all records is very important too. The old ones and the ones that are going to come in the future, everything is important. You never know which record can save your case. A letter that is dater five years ago could come in handy. Every lawyer does this the first thing he takes up any client or a case, to know the case in and out. Know which side is right and which side is wrong. It does not matter if your side is at fault, do not judge anyone. Know who will you be going against, what is the opponents reputation and the previous case history, they will come handy later on.
